LAS «MANIPULACIONES» EN LA LITERATURA INFANTIL Y JUVENIL TRADUCIDA AL EUSKERA

El sistema de la Literatura Infantil y Juvenil vasca es un sistema tardío en cuanto a su incorporación a las nuevas corrientes literarias europeas y débil en la medida que todavía cuenta con un repertorio limitado, razón por la cual es campo abonado para el desarrollo toda clase de estrategias de traducción. El presente trabajo muestra las estrategias o «manipulaciones» más notorias, tanto voluntarias como involuntarias, utilizadas por los traductores en su empeño por adaptar los textos a un nuevo público lector.

"Manipulations" in children's and young readers' literature translated into Basque. The system of children's and young readers' literature in Basque is both a latecomer to new European literary trends and fledgling in that its repertory is still limited, which makes it an ideal testing ground for the development of all kinds of translation strategies. The present work discusses the most notorious strategies or "manipulations", whether voluntary or involuntary, used by translators in their attempt to adapt texts to a new reading public.

THE RECENT BOOM IN TRANSLATIONS OF ANTÔNIO JOSÉ DA SILVA, O JUDEU

This article examines a curious phenomenon: the appearance of six translations of works by the eighteenth-century Portuguese comic playwright Antônio José da Silva during the last twenty-two years, when there had been virtually no translations of his works in the previous two and a half centuries. The article examines various possible explanations; it offers no firm conclusions, but suggests some possibilities for further study.
